DART Scene Markers didn't start as a business idea. They started with a simple question: Is there a better way to identify and communicate evidence at a scene?
I'm a law enforcement officer and accredited collision reconstructionist with nearly two decades of experience in public safety. Over the years, I've worked everything from routine crashes to complex roadway investigations where clearly identifying, documenting, and communicating evidence matters.
DART grew out of that experience.
I wanted something compact enough to carry with me, quick enough to deploy during the preliminary stages of an investigation, and visible enough to clearly direct attention to evidence in scene photographs. Just as importantly, I wanted something temporary - a marker I could move or pick back up as the investigation developed rather than immediately committing to permanent paint markings.
So I started developing, designing and field testing.
The project I started to make a tool for my own use quickly evolved as I started showing them to co-workers, which lead to the development of DART Scene Markers.
DART remains a small operation. The markers are produced and assembled in small batches, and feedback from the people actually using them continues to influence their development.
